Press release – Slovenian Day in Zalaegerszeg 19th April 2012

 

The Slovenian business-cultural day was held on 19th April 2012 and initiated by the ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Hungary Darja Bavdež Kuret and the mayor of Zalaegerszeg. In its frame lecture on Slovenia was held in the High Schools of Zalaegerszeg.

The Slovenian-Hungarian business forum was also organized in the frame of the Slovenian Day. Some 50 Slovenian and Hungarian executives, representatives of Zalaegerszeg city, business institutes and journalists participated at the forum. 
After the opening address of Mayor Csaba Gyutai, the ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Hungary Darja Bavdaž Kuret and the ambassador of Hungary to the Republic of Slovenia István Szent-Iványi addressed the audience. The Slovenian economy and bilateral economic cooperation as well as economy of wider Zalaegerszeg area were presented. Two Slovenian companies - Luka Koper with its meaning for Zalaegerszeg as a transport link and Varis with owner who is also the president of Pomurje’s Chamber of Commerce – were separately introduced. At the end of the forum bilateral business meetings were organized for Slovenian and Hungarian company representatives.

In the cultural part of the program the ambassador and the mayor opened the photography exhibition “Slovenia in us” and Gyula Zoka’s exhibition in the Hevesi Sándor Theater. The photo exhibition ‘Slovenia in Us’ that symbolically illustrated twenty years of Slovenian independence with photographs of Lipizzaner horses, was personally presented by Alenka Slavinec. In honor of Slovenian Day the dance show “Kutyakölykök” was performed in the City Concert Hall.
