Slovenian President Danilo Türk and Hungarian President Pal Schmitt visited Slovenian community in Raba region on 8th of March 2012
Slovenian President Danilo Türk and his Hungarian counterpart Pal Schmitt visited on 8th of March 2012 the Slovenian Hungarian community in Raba Region. President Türk was accompanied by the Minister for Slovenian abroad without portfolio for relations between Republic of Slovenia and autochtonous Slovene national communities in neighbouring countries of the Republic of Slovenia and Slovene emigrants around the world Ljudmila Novak, ambassador Darja Bavdaž Kuret and general consul Dušan Snoj. Representatives of Slovenian minority organizations and institutions informed president Türk on their situation and activities at the General Consulate in Szentgotthárd
The president of the Associations of Slovenians in Hungary Jozže Hirnök, the president of National Slovenian Self government Martin Ropoš and the president of the Pomurje Hungarian Self-Governing National Community Ferenc Horváth signed in the presence of the presidents of both countries the agreement on cooperation among National Slovenian self government, Associations of Slovenians in Hungary and Pomurje Hungarian Self-Governing National community.
President Türk opened together with his Hungarian counterpart Schmitt the Slovenian-Hungarian business conference in the Culture and Information Centre Lipa. The main aim of the conference - attended by numerous Slovenian and Hungarian entrepreneurs - was to boost economic cooperation and to expand businesses between the border regions.
In the Cultural and Information Centre Lipa, the representatives of the Slovenian minority presented to the presidents the situation of national Slovenian Community in Hungary.
The presidents visited Kühar Memorial House in Felsőszölnök/Gornji Senik that was arranged in the frame of Neighbour to Neighbour project and financed from cross border operational Program Slovenia - Hungary 2007-2013. In bilingual elementary school Jožef Košič presidents Türk and Schmitt were informed on situation of bilingual education in Porabje.
Presidents Türk and Schmitt also met representatives of the Hungarian community in Lendava and visited bilingual elementary school in Slovenia's Dobrovnik.
